Shake It Update 7/26/18: Dylan Live 1962-66; New / Reissues From Peter Holsapple, Flaming Lips & More

This week brings us a new collection of 60's live recordings by Bob Dylan, and new albums by Peter Holsapple and Boz Scaggs. And we've also got some great vinyl reissues from Flaming Lips, U2, Gwar, and Psychedelic Furs.

Of course those are just the highlights, so please see just down below for the rest of this week's new titles and reissues.

New local vinyl of note:

A new LP from Brian Olive!
Living On Top is the new self-released LP of from the Grammy-winning former member of The Greenhornes and The Soledad Brothers, available in three different colors of vinyl.

A new split 7" by Wussy and The Paranoid Style!
Released by Bar/None Records, with 'New American Standard' by Wussy, and 'Absolute Cadavers' by DC Garage rockers Paranoid Style.

For the first time in the U.S., experience a "powerful" (Rolling Stone) live adaptation of Pink Floyd's The Wall at Music Hall this July. With sets created by designers from Cirque du Soleil, colossal video projections, and a 70-piece orchestra in the pit, Another Brick in the Wall is the musical event of the summer. In honor of this new operatic thriller and Pink Floyd's musical legacy, Cincinnati Opera would like to offer a discount to Shake it Records customers using the attached flyer. Use the promo code SHAKEIT online or follow this link to get $20 off Another Brick in the Wall!

Wussy's latest LP What Heaven Is Like is here!

The CD and LP are now both in, so if you haven't stopped by the shop or put in an online order we are still waiting to hear from ya!

On What Heaven Is Like, Wussy continue their longstanding tradition of combining supernatural tales and workaday anthems, with inspirations that range from the monsters of urban legends to late-night public television viewing. The new record builds on the momentum of their prior two releases Attica! and Forever Sounds, with sonic and melodic nods to Springsteen, Mercury Rev, Unrest, Neu! and The Replacements, with songs at once devastating and hopeful. Highlights include a ballad for a beloved television heroine, a pair of covers by Kath Bloom and Twinkeyz, and a three-song suite inspired by Charles Burns' brilliant and ever-timely graphic novel Black Hole.

If you can't make it to the store, our online shop is open and eager to ship one to you! All previous Wussy albums are still in stock on CD and LP if you need to round out your collection.

Shake It is extremely honored to be selected the #2 Record Store in the U.S. by Yelp! Thanks to our customers for all those great reviews that got us on the list. See Yelp's entire list of the best U.S. and Canadian stores here. A big congrats to Ohio pals Plaid Room Records of Loveland and Spoonful Records of Columbus, who also made the list!
